Information Collection and Use
Information Collection
FirstNet Learning is the sole owner of the information
collected on www.firstnetlearning.com. We also collect registration
information at www.firstnetcampus.com and those we host for
our business partners. We collect information from our users at
several different points in providing our training services.
Registration
In order to gain access to FirstNet Learning online
training courses, a user must first complete the online registration
process. During registration a user is required to give contact
information (such as name and email address). We use this information
to contact the user to provide a username and password to enable
the user to access the FirstNet Learning online training courses
for which he has expressed interest. This information may also be
provided to the FirstNet Learning, Inc. business partner you originally
contacted. It is optional for the user to provide demographic information
(such as address, company and department), but encouraged so we
can provide a more personalized experience on our site. We DO NOT
require a user's social security number to provide any type of service
from FirstNet Learning sites.
Order
We request information from the user on our order form. A user must provide contact
information (such as name, email, and address) and financial information (such as credit card number,
expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes. If we have trouble processing
an order, the information is used to contact the user.
We do not store full credit card numbers in our electronic files or databases, and
our credit card processor displays only the last 4 numbers of the card number in their administrative
and reporting systems.
Information Use
FirstNet Learning's goal in collecting personal information
is to provide the user with the best customer service possible.
The information we collect from you is needed primarily to register
you in our database so you can take online training courses, but
we also use that information to contact you if a problem ever arises
with the Online University. The only other reason we would
use your contact information is in sending you up to date information
about new courses, promotions and new procedures to follow while
on the FirstNet Learning Online University (www.firstnetcampus.com). If
you do not wish to receive promotions from us in the future, please send
an email to unsubscribe@firstnetlearning.com and
type UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line, or use the telephone or postal
address at the end of this Privacy Statement.
Information about individuals collected on FirstNet
Learning's database is used to track and report the record of your
training. Access to individual training course activity records
is limited to the individual, and to the individual's employer,
if the individual is participating in an employers training program.
Authorized FirstNet Learning, Inc. administrators also have access
to individual training course activity records. Third parties have
no means of access to individual information unless provided with
such access by the individual or employer.
FirstNet Learning business partners and resellers
also have access to your personal information, but do not have access
to your credit card number. Business partners are typically professional
associations or other membership groups with whom we have created
a co-branded offering. Resellers are typically Internet based business
to business or business to consumer companies that offer our online
training catalog to their target audience. If you have arrived at
www.firstnetcampus.com through one of these avenues you need
to understand that they can use your personal information as governed
by their privacy policy. Any questions you may have about how they
will handle your personal information should be directed to their
privacy policy. It will be necessary for you to return to the business
partner or reseller you originated with to access their privacy
policy.
Choice/Opt-out
We provide you the opportunity to ‘opt-out’ of having your personally identifiable information used for certain purposes when we ask for this information. For example, if you purchase a product/service but do not wish to receive any additional marketing material from us, you can indicate your preference on our order form.
If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications, you may opt-out of receiving them by following the instructions included in each newsletter or communication or by emailing us at unsubscribe@firstnetlearning.com, or you may contact us at (303) 302-1187 X 1.
You will be notified when your personal information is collected by any third party that is not our agent/service provider, so you can make an informed choice as to whether or not to share your information with that party.
Profile
We DO NOT create or retain user profiles for any purposes.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about
the user. We use cookies during individual online training course sessions in the form of bookmarks.
This allows the user to leave a position in an online training course and return to the same position
later. These cookies are set by the user and retrieved by the user. If users reject the cookie,
they may still use our site, but cannot use the bookmark feature of our online training courses.
Some of our business partners use cookies on sites
linked to from our site (for example, safety organizations). However,
we have no access to or control over these cookies.
Third Party Advertising
We DO NOT allow third party advertisers
to post ads on our web sites.
Log Files
Like most standard Web site servers we use log files.
This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet
service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time
stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site,
track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic
information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked
to personally identifiable information
Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs)
We DO NOT employ a software technology called clear
gifs.
Communications from the Site
Registration Confirmation
We send all registrants a welcoming email confirming their registration and listing
their username and password. The email is also sent to the authorized company training coordinator
if the user is part of a company group or to a third party providing the FirstNet Learning, Inc.
online training courses to the user.
Service Announcements
On rare occasions it is necessary to send out a strictly
service related announcement. For instance, if our service is temporarily
suspended for maintenance we might send users an email.
Customer Service
We communicate with users on a regular basis to provide
requested services and in regards to issues relating to their account
we reply via email or phone, in accordance with the users wishes.
Sharing
Legal Disclaimer
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy,
we may need to disclose personal information when required by law
wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary
to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal
process served on our Web site.
Aggregate Information (non-personally identifiable)
We DO NOT share aggregated demographic information
with third parties or advertisers.
Third Party Advertisers
FirstNet Learning DOES NOT share Web site usage or
registration information about users with third party advertisers.
Third Party Intermediaries
We use an outside credit card processing company to
bill users for goods and services. The company does not share, store
or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.
Service Providers
We partner with other third parties, for example to host our web sites. When the
user registers for FirstNet Learning online training courses, the contact information (name, address,
e-mail, company, and department), are necessary to provide access to the FirstNet Learning online
training courses through its Online Universities. Third parties are not allowed to use personally
identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
Business Transitions
In the event FirstNet Learning goes through a business
transition, such as a merger, being acquired by another company,
or selling a portion of its assets, users' personal information
will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred. Users
will be notified via email 30 days prior to a change of ownership
or control of their personal information. If as a result of the
business transition, the users' personally identifiable information
will be used in a manner different from that stated at the time
of collection they will be given choice consistent with our notification
of changes section.
Links
This Web site contains links to other sites. Please
be aware that we, FirstNet Learning, are not responsible for the
privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to
be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements
of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable
information. This privacy statement applies solely to information
collected by this Web site.
Surveys
From time-to-time our site requests information from
users via surveys. Participation in a survey is completely voluntary
and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this
information. The requested information typically includes contact
information (such as name and address), and demographic information
(such as zip code). Anonymous Survey information will be used for
purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of
this site. Users' personally identifiable information is not shared
with third parties unless we give prior notice and choice. Though
we may use an intermediary to conduct these surveys, they may not
use users' personally identifiable information for any secondary
purposes.
Security
This web site takes every precaution to protect our
users' information. When users submit sensitive information via
the Web site, their information is protected both online and off-line.
When our registration/order form asks users to enter
sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information
is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software
in the industry - Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL works by creating
a temporary, shared "key" (sort of a digital code book)
that lets only the computers on either end of a transmission scramble
and unscramble information. To anyone between the sender and
the receiver, including all the servers that may relay the message,
the SSL transmission is indecipherable.
SSL makes on-line ordering as secure as using your
credit cards anywhere else. In fact, since we began processing
credit card transactions in 1999 no FirstNet Learning, Inc. client
has ever reported misappropriation of a credit card number resulting
from a transaction associated with our online training offerings.
Knowing When You are on a Secure Site
You can tell when you're on a secure site by the appearance of a padlock or key icon
somewhere along the bottom or top of your browser's window. If the key is unbroken, or the
lock is closed that means you're connected under SSL security. Most browsers can also be
set to alert you when you enter and leave a secure site.
Off-line Records
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything
in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the
sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the
information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative)
are granted access to personally identifiable information. These employees use password-protected
screen-savers when they leave their desk. When they return, they must re-enter their password to
re-gain access to user information. Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up-to-date on our security
and privacy practices. Annually, as well as any time new policies are added, our employees are
notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure
our users' information is protected. Finally, the servers that store personally identifiable information
are in a secure environment, inside a locked cage in a locked facility.
If you have any questions about the security at our
Web site, please send an email to support@firstnetlearning.com
Supplementation of Information
FirstNet Learning DOES NOT supplement user information
we receive with information from 3rd party sources.
Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal
Information
If a user's personally identifiable information changes
(such as zip code, phone, email or postal address), or if a user
no longer desires our service, we provide a way to correct, update
or delete/deactivate users' personally identifiable information.
This can usually be done by emailing our Help Desk at support@firstnetlearning.com
Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will
post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and
other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of
what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances,
if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with
the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
If, however, we are going to use users' personally
identifiable information in a manner different from that stated
at the time of collection we will notify users via email. Users
will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information
in this different manner. However, if users have opted out of all
communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated their account,
then they will not be contacted, nor will their personal information
be used in this new manner. In addition, if we make any material
changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information
already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice
on our Web site notifying users of the change. In some cases where
we post a notice we will also email users, who have opted to receive
communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy
practices.
